During Design Week at university, students were presented with three project briefs, each requiring the completion of a full design within seven days.

The selected brief was provided by the renowned design consultancy SeymourPowell and focused on the theme:

"Enhance an existing personal device or home appliance through modularity."

Presentation Boards

Over the course of seven days, the assignment required the submission of three presentation boards, each serving a distinct purpose in the design process:

Research Board

The Research Board played a crucial role in defining the design direction for the new concept. It included primary research, which involved gathering direct user insights through surveys and observations, and secondary research, focusing on market analysis, competitor studies, and technological trends. The ideation phase explored initial concept sketches and brainstorming sessions, followed by low-fidelity prototyping to test early-stage physical or digital models. Key findings were identified to shape the final approach, leading to a well-defined proposal based on research insights.

Scenario Board

The Scenario Board illustrated how the product functions and integrates into real-life usage. It provided a detailed representation of user interactions, demonstrating how the modular design adapts to different needs. This was achieved through a combination of scenario narratives and high-quality renders showcasing various headphone configurations in different use cases.

Product Proposal Board

The Product Proposal Board presented the final design, highlighting its features and overall functionality. A high-impact hero shot showcased the complete product, while an exploded view provided a breakdown of its individual components and assembly details. The board also detailed key features, emphasizing the versatility and modularity of the final design.

3D Modelling and renders

The product below has been fully 3D modeled and rendered to showcase its design and functionality.

The headphone design is fully modular, comprising a frame, speakers, screen mats, and ear cups.

Each component is available in various colors, allowing consumers to customize the product to their personal preferences.

By pressing the two side buttons, the individual speakers can be detached from the frame and combined to form a standalone Bluetooth speaker. Additionally, multiple speakers can be connected to create a network, enhancing and amplifying the overall sound experience.
